4 Dream Pittsburgh Elopement Locations | Pittsburgh Elopement Photographers

pittsburgh elopement locations

As Pittsburgh wedding photographers, we love documenting all kinds of love stories. One type of love story we’d love to capture more of are elopements! We love the spaciousness and intimacy of it getting to be just us and the couple and maybe only a few select others like an officiant or witness, keeping the focus really on making an experience that is a reflection of your relationship and getting to do exactly what speaks to you. With that being said, we have a few Pittsburgh elopement locations that are high on our list to add to our repertoire, so if you’re looking for an elopement location in Pittsburgh, read on!

1. Allegheny County Courthouse

This downtown Pittsburgh elopement location has a beautiful courtyard outside, and the building has these incredible hallways with arches and stairs – it's truly so gorgeous! We love the beautiful architecture in this building and that it is right downtown so it's so easy to go from here to many other great spots for elopement portraits. And you can even grab dinner afterwards at Emmerson's in Market Square.

2. Cleland Rock in McConnells Mill State Park

We have spent many, many days at McConnells Mill both hiking there and doing portrait sessions and Cleland Rock is an incredible overlook that just looks fantastic! The view from there is gorgeous. There is a lot of variety of views around McConnells Mill: the big flowing creek, the gorgeous "Lord of the Rings" esque woods, the old mill itself, and the cool covered bridge! This means you’d have endless options for your elopement portraits!

3. Tharp Knob Vista Overlook in Ohiopyle State Park

Having been to Ohiopyle a few times, we think this would be a great Pittsburgh elopement location. There are incredible trails and waterfalls and this overlook has an incredible view of the deep forest. If you’re thinking of a fall elopement, this spot would be incredible. And less than two miles away in Ohiopyle is Cucumber Falls, which is a very magical location perfect for portraits.

4. Mellon Park

Mellon Park is the quintessential Pittsburgh elopement location. Simple and accessible, this park has it all: beautiful trees, the stone walled garden, flowers and greens, a field, the many paths, and gorgeous stone architecture. Regardless of when you’re planning to elope, this park looks amazing in every season! It is not fully in the forest but not fully urban, making it an excellent blend of both worlds.

Whether you’re looking to have a courthouse elopement or a mountain elopement where you rent a cute cabin Airbnb, we would love to be a part of your future elopement! Not only do we want to geek out over your love story, but we can give you recommendations for some of our favorite vendors when it comes to flowers or planners, and the best spots for portraits near whichever Pittsburgh elopement location you choose.

Does that sound good to you? Reach out and let’s chat!
