A Fun & Epic Downtown Pittsburgh Wedding for Rachel & DJ

Rachel and DJ are two people who know how to have fun! They’re the most dedicated Penn State fans on the face of the Earth, and from their engagement photos on Penn State’s campus to their downtown Pittsburgh wedding, their love for each other really shone through.

The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh had the perfect vibe for the kind of party fit for a couple like Rachel and DJ.

Our favorite part of this venue has to be the gorgeous rooftop space. It was perfect for them to have their private vow exchange and then they had a stellar cocktail hour up there with live music for their guests. Their goal for their wedding was to throw a great party, and this downtown Pittsburgh wedding venue was a great choice!

There was so much love woven into the day, it was amazing to see. Rachel and DJ love their dog so much and they included not only their own dog, but other family dogs in the ceremony too! Pex, the bride’s parent’s dog, Luna, the Maid of Honor’s dog, and Sidney, Rachel and DJ’s dog all made the ceremony that much more special. On top of the pups, their friend’s reactions to the vows during the ceremony were fantastic! We just love seeing so much joy surrounding our couples on their wedding day. Also, Rachel’s mom made wooden faux flowers for the brides and bridesmaids which totally rules!

Rachel and DJ’s grand entrance into the reception was truly perfect!

They really pumped up the guests and it felt like a real Penn State game entrance. The couple and their wedding party were so into it and gave it their all which made it totally epic. Even as someone who is not a football fan at all, the energy of the moment still gave me goosebumps!

This wedding really was a quintessential downtown Pittsburgh wedding with the almond torte wedding cake (which is a VERY Pittsburgh classic tradition thing) and the portraits taken at the Pittsburgh overlook. We also got to work with our favorite Pittsburgh wedding planner, Meg from Yinz Getting Married, (which is how the couple found us!) which is always such a blast!

Overall, we wouldn’t change a thing about Rachel and DJ’s big day, and we were so honored to be a part of it!
